(Not accounting for Fury of the Fallen)For the Snail Shaman's quest, this is where the run gets overcomplicated, as it's technically possible to skip the entire thing, but it requires that you use an old patch (1.0.2.8, preferrably), as shown in this speedrun. However, to end phase one we still need to hit him a few times, before we can break through the wall and leave. If we define nail damage as attacks against living creatures, which gives off soul, which seems a fair description, it's completely fine to knock him over. The next major challenge is The False Knight. If not, that's another couple of hits to the total) (Edit: I'm not completely 100% certain it's actually possible to align them, but it seems possible, from my testing. It's easier to align the aspids in the top left corner due to the shape of the roof, so I recommend killing the first aspid with the top center-right stalactite so you can align the other two underneath the top left one. I was able to get at least two of the three aspids down consistently this way, so it's far from impossible. It's in theory possible to kill all three aspids with this, as two of them spawn at the same time, and can therefore be aligned together to be killed by a single stalactite. There are two stalactites in the room, one in the top center-right, and one in the top left corner. The aspid arena is the first major challenge of the run, but it's not as impossible as it seems. I was actually trying to find a way to do the same run earlier last week, and found a few solutions to the issues you're describing, though there are still more roadblocks that must be overcome in order to be able to complete it. What is the minimum required amount of nail kills in order to kill all the dreamers and the hollow knight itself? And as are they, they tend to talk about he minimum requirements if the challenge is impossible, and that’s what I want to discuss.

This was fun to think about, but then it got me thinking to those video game challenge videos which this may have been inspired from.

Unfortunately, there is no way to even get to your first boss without having to deal damage to an enemy with the nail. As you require to kill 3 aspids with no environmental hazards or ways to deal damage. Which even still, you can only progress the fight by smacking the maggot inside.īut! This isn’t even where your no nail run stops! Your run is OVER as early as the aspid arena next to the hot springs in the crossroads. Simple as this, there is no way to progress past this boss without dealing damage, UNLESS you count hits that obtain soul as “damage dealing”. As some of you may know, the door to the left of the area is breakable, but this only becomes breakable on their second phase. Secondly, there’s obviously the false knight.

However, you wouldn’t be able to use the geo as you need to save sly, which requires killing mama gruz. Initially, you might think that the shaman mound is impossible because of the lack of soul, but you could probably just grind for geo from a vengefly under a stalactite somewhere so that you can buy and earn enough soul fragments for an extra container. But then we come across a couple roadblocks, three of which I have in mind. You can get to the crossroads without effort, just break down the doors in kp. Unfortunately, there become some roadblocks very early on. Destroying structures is okay, the only way you can obtain soul is from the statues and maybe some charms, no nail arts but all spells and all charms can be used to deal damage. I’ve been thinking of a way to complete hollow knight without having to deal direct nail damage to enemies.
